Say hai to...Isabella Davey

For our very first  entry into the #HaiSociety journal, we spoke to the writer, editor, lecturer and most  recently, Copenhagen Fashion Week's Head of Communications and Digital *and breath*,   Isabella Davey. Isabella has worked in fashion and the creative industries for several years.  The vast and varied nature  of the work  and projects she holds on her belt, mirrors her nomadic sensibilities when it comes to pinning down a single location she can safely call home;  something we strongly share in at Hai.

Read on for Isabella's charming take on her creative life, and the best Chicken Schnitzel Copenhagen has to offer...

Hi Isabella....or should we say Hai!

Can you describe what you do?

A lot of the time is spent on the phone looking stressed and biting my nails. I am Head of Communications and Digital for Copenhagen Fashion Week, as well as working with the Architecture and Design magazine Ark Journal, lecturing at NCAD in Ireland, alongside being Contributing Editor to Twin Magazine and writing for a range of others, including LOVE Magazine. This generally equates to being mad busy, but my brain is always moving and thinking BIG!

Where do you consider home? When do you know you are home?

I am Australian, British (and a bit Irish) and have lived in 5 cities and 4 countries, with each member of my family all from a separate country too, so the concept of home is a bit abstract for me.   For me it is something familiar, be it a taste, a sound, an image that triggers a thought. Often home is when I am around friends, and I feel completely and utterly myself. If I could capture my current definition of home, maybe this image would sum it up!

Describe how you feel when you are on a creative Hai? (high)

Electricity! Its like a vibrant dazzle when you feel inspired. I am lucky to get this feeling a lot in my line of work: there are so many things that inspires me.

The best, untalked about place in your city?

Bakken! Chicken schnitzel and gravy, the Tornado ride, cold beers, sour candy and the oldest rollercoaster in the world! It’s a 40 min cycle and I recommend a swim en route (with a tinny for good measure).

How, or where do you go to find inspiration?

My head! A forest of unending thought. I could daydream all day.

What do you do when no one is watching?

What’s the feeling fashion gives you?

Fashion gives me an incredible feeling of potential. Something unbounded. And something that makes it extra special? The incredible women within it

Where are you going to take your Hai next?

Straight into winter in Copenhagen <3
